Rumi Scientific is advancing drug development for Huntington’s disease and expanding into neurodevelopmental disorders, aiming to transform synthetic human embryology into new treatment avenues for currently incurable genetic conditions.
This full‑time, on‑site Associate Research Engineer role is based in New York, NY and supports lab automation and manufacturing activities that drive Rumi Scientific’s organoid‑based drug discovery platform. The Associate Research Engineer will help design, implement, and optimize automated workflows for high‑throughput screening, including configuring and maintaining laboratory instrumentation and robotics. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include collaborating with scientists and engineers to translate experimental protocols into robust automated processes, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to data acquisition pipelines.
The role also involves documenting procedures, adhering to quality and safety standards, assisting with scale‑up of manufacturing processes for organoid production, and supporting continuous improvement of lab operations.
- Strong foundation in Computer Science and Algorithms, with the ability to support automation workflows and data‑driven experimentation.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D) and Research, preferably in a laboratory or biotechnology setting.
- Background in Physics or related quantitative disciplines that supports understanding of instrumentation and complex systems.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, biotechnology, or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience with lab automation, robotics, or high‑throughput screening platforms is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar) to integrate instruments and optimize workflows.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and adherence to laboratory safety and quality practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate technical information clearly.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000/yr
.
