Overview

New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for Summer 2026. This is a one-year appointment, renewable annually based on performance. The position involves postdoctoral work in developing efficient methods and tools for analyzing large-scale biomedical data with complex designs, and conducting big data analyses using advanced statistical models. Experience with datasets such as TOPMed, UK Biobank, All of Us, or digital health data is desirable.

The postdoctoral associate will develop and implement methods and tools, conduct analyses, report study results, publish, present, and engage in grant-writing, while advancing their own research. The position is under the mentorship of Dr. Han Chen, with professional development and networking opportunities. The position is available immediately and will be open until filled.

Position Details:

Approximate Start and End Dates: This is a full-time, fixed-term position for one year, starting in January 2027, subject to continuation and possible extension based on grant funding and performance.

Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term, grant-funded position for one year.

Expected

Work Hours:

35 hours per week;
Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with some flexibility.

Location: Hybrid. At least three days of in-person work per week, including field-based research activities and College-designated common in-person days.

Salary is provided in compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act: the annual base salary range is $62,500–$65,000, based on years of relevant postgraduate experience, both at NYU and elsewhere. Salary offers may reflect grant funding terms and other factors.

Responsibilities
  • Perform postdoctoral research focused on developing and applying methods for analyzing large-scale biomedical data with complex designs.
  • Conduct big data analyses using advanced statistical models.
  • Work with diverse datasets (e.g., TOPMed, UK Biobank, All of Us, digital health data) as applicable.
  • Develop and implement methods and tools; run analyses; report results; publish; present; and contribute to grant writing.
  • Engage in mentoring and collaboration under the guidance of the mentor.
Qualifications
  • Dissertation completed in the last 3 years; if not completed, provide written verification from the dissertation chair of expected completion before September 1, 2026.
  • Earned PhD or equivalent in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, computational biology, nursing, or other health-related fields.
  • Eligible to work in the US at the time of hire and for the duration of the appointment; ability to present eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Strong track record of scholarly achievement (publications, honors, awards), grant-writing experience, and potential for independence as a researcher.
