Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow – Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies

Research Associate with an academic focus in Latino Studies (Postdoctoral Fellow position) starting in fall 2026 and ending in August 2027, with potential renewal. The role will support CLACLS operations and collaborative research efforts.

General Duties
  • Develop research plans and proposals and participate in acquiring funding.
  • Collect, analyze, and assure validity of data.
  • Write progress reports; write and publish findings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external colleagues.
  • Adhere to standards for safety, hygiene, and ethical conduct.

Campus Specific Information

Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies (CLACLS) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) familiar with Latino Studies to collaborate on research, fellowships, events, and community outreach. The incumbent will attend and contribute to CLACLS events and publications, organize conferences and symposia, liaise with community organizations, and support initiatives such as podcasts, social media, and newsletters.

Duties

(summary)
  • Conduct research in the field of Latino Studies.
  • Create calls for applications, edit, and oversee fellowship programs (e.g., Latino Data Project Fellowship, Reportage Fellowship, Summer Travel Grants).
  • Collaborate on grant applications, event organization, outreach, and advertising.
  • Support and collaborate with CLACLS initiatives such as podcast, social media, and newsletter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in a related field and demonstrated research ability.

Other Qualifications

Preferred experience in applying for grants and fellowships, supervising fellows and staff, editing publications, and organizing events. Ability to cooperate for institutional benefit. Candidates should have their doctoral dissertation in hand and completed within the last five years.

Compensation

$65,000–$75,000 per year.
