Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Research | Laboratory of Rohit Chandwani, M.D., Ph.D. | Weill Cornell Medicine Job Title

Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Description

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be working on a project related to the epigenetic mechanisms underlying inflammation and cancer.

The focus of the Chandwani Laboratory is to understand the contribution that chromatin dysregulation has in myriad cell fate decisions, including the response to inflammation, epithelial cell memory, tumor initiation, and malignant progression, using the pancreas as a model system. The lab has refined the use of low-input epigenomics to the study of lineage-traced ex vivo epithelial cells and routinely implements tumor cell lines, mouse and patient-derived human organoids, and lineage-traced genetically engineered mice.

In addition, the lab actively employs a variety of genome scale technologies including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and CUT&RUN/Tag. The lab has active research projects underway studying lineage specification and cell fate in the exocrine pancreas, master transcription factor coordination of tumor initiation, chromatin regulators in the development of pancreatic cancer, and epigenetic memory of inflammation. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct the research independently and/or collaboratively with colleagues to ensure all experiments are appropriately conducted following Lab, Department, and College policies and procedures. Designing, organizing, and carrying out experiments using established protocols, and adapting to and designing new protocols. Collect, prepare, and analyze research data. This may include keeping a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data and/or maintaining a computer database of the research data.

Tabulate data for presentations and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data. Participate in abstract and article preparation with the Principal Investigator, publish results in research journals, and present findings ist the Principal Investigator in applying for fellowship, grant, and scholarship support, as requested. Assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory, including training and supervising interns, students, and other laboratory personnel, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have a Ph.D. and be highly motivated with excellent communication skills. A strong background in molecular biology and/or cancer biology and publications in peer-reviewed journals are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in epigenetics and with genetically engineered mice is desirable, but not necessary.

Application Process

Please send a cover letter and curriculum vitae via email to Rohit Chandwani, M.D., Ph.D.
