Research Assistant, NYU Langone, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Two positions are open for full‑time research assistants to work with Dr. Courtney Filippi. Dr. Filippi’s research examines early life neural correlates of anxiety risk. To do so, our lab uses both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalography (EEG). Our work prioritizes neural systems associated with infant attention and behavioral control. Ongoing projects investigate how factors that are intrinsic to the individual (e.g., temperament, brain measures) and early experiences (e.g., parent-child interactions) interactively shape risk for anxiety.
This position is ideal for a postbac interested in getting hands‑on training in infancy research methods and/or learning about the use of neuroscientific methods with infants and toddlers. Research assistants will be involved in recruitment and retention, scheduling visits, collecting behavioral, functional MRI, and EEG data, supervision of undergraduates, and will receive training in EEG and MRI data quality control.
Flexible schedule on evenings and weekends is required. Required education:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Development, or Cognitive or Affective Neuroscience, or related field. The positions require excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Prior experience working with children in a research context and experience with EEG are preferred. The position is available beginning Fall 2026 and requires a two‑year commitment.
Interested individuals should fill out this form and upload their CV. Questions should be directed to Dr. Courtney Filippi, Courtney.filippi. Applicants attending the ICIS or FIT’NG Conferences in July are encouraged to reach out ahead of these conferences. Applications accepted through September 15th, 2026.
