DescriptionThe Moayedi lab in the Pain Research Center at New York University College of Dentistry (New York, NY) is seeking a postdoctoral research scientist to study lingual mechanotransduction and sensation. The lab uses a combination of molecular biology, advanced microscopy, in vivo functional imaging, physiology, and behavior in animal models and humans.
The successful candidate will work independently and resourcefully to accomplish the responsibilities of the position including: rodent orofacial behavioral experiments, histology (whole mount and sliced preparations, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope), in vivo and in vitro imaging of neuronal activity and structure (primary cultures and in vivo intact preparations, 2 photon and widefield fluorescent microscopy), electrophysiology, rodent husbandry, and rodent surgery. The candidate will be involved in experimental design, developing protocols as needed, carrying out experiments, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation, presentation at scientific meetings, preparing applications for external funding, training lab members, and performing other duties that are necessary for the operation of the laboratory.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $63,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
QualificationsWe seek a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher who holds a PhD in neuroscience or related field to join our team. Additionally, strong laboratory and analytical skills, effective written and oral communication, and efficient project management are essential. Experience with rodent behavior, electrophysiology, imaging, rodent surgery, and coding (Matlab, Python, R) are highly desirable.
