Postdoctoral Position in the Department of Microbiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine
Postdoctoral research position is available in Andrew Darwin’s lab in the Department of Microbiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with strong interest and experience in bacterial genetics, regulation, and physiology. The lab has projects focused on understanding the roles of C-terminal processing proteases and on characterizing autolysin control mechanisms in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
This position also offers the opportunity to develop independent research directions to build the foundation for an independent academic career, if so desired.
DescriptionIdeal candidates will have
- recently awarded PhD in Microbiology or be very close to completion of doctoral training
- experience with molecular-genetic research in bacteriology
- interest in mechanistic research aimed at understanding complex processes in bacterial cells
- ability to work independently, to develop hypotheses and to take the lead in driving projects forward
- strong experimental skills, with evidence of productivity, such as first-author publications or high-quality preprints
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The salary for this position starts at $70,000 per year, commensurate with previous postdoctoral experience
