Founded in 1913 to protect the Jewish people, ADL works to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and secure justice and fair treatment to all. In the face of rising antisemitism and extremism, we protect, advocate, and educate through a mix of programs and services using the latest innovations and technology.

The Research Assistant is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Research with the population, management, and auditing of key datasets for ADL's Center on Extremism. This is a temporary position running October 2026 – April 2027, and can be based anywhere ADL has an office.

• Enter a high volume of data collected from multiple independent sources
• Maintain and organize repositories of data according to COE guidelines to ensure data accessibility
• Regularly audit, review, and deduplicate data to ensure readiness for major report releases and for regular updates of ADL's public-facing databases
• Conduct and meticulously document research, investigating and monitoring extremist movements, groups, and individuals through primary and secondary public sources
• Respond to research requests from COE staff and regional requests for help as needed

• A degree in Journalism, Political Science, History, Criminal Justice, a related field, or equivalent work experience; graduate degree preferred
• Several years' experience with research, data entry, and complex data sets in an academic or professional setting
• Significant experience utilizing data management software and technology
• Established familiarity with issues related to antisemitism and anti-Zionism preferred; coursework or projects on extremism or related topics
• Meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to demonstrate good judgment under pressure
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in teams

$28 per hour. This rate is reflective of a position based in New York, New York; ADL has a location-based compensation structure, so there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.

Note:

ADL is a hybrid work environment requiring 3 days in person, with flexibility to work additional hours when necessary to complete work assignments.
