About the role...We’re looking to hire a Staff Product Researcher to join our Product Research team to work directly with Designers and Product Managers to help us build a high-quality experience for our learners. You’ll help shape a product used by millions of users around the world by integrating research into Duolingo’s unique product development process and generating insights that guide teams in choosing what to build and how to build it.
This is a high-impact, fast-paced role for a mixed-method researcher who can drive clarity in ambiguous spaces, influence product decisions, and deliver actionable insights at the pace of product development.
- Set research direction with cross‑functional partners by identifying the highest‑impact questions and translating them into a clear, prioritized research projects
- Lead end‑to‑end research across the product lifecycle; including 0→1 discovery on big bets, concept testing, and post‑launch UX/UI iterations
- Develop strong product intuition to generate insights and product ideas that connect the learner experience to product strategy, tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes
- Build durable visibility for research: establish systems for sharing outputs and deliver regular, decision‑focused updates that keep stakeholders aligned
- Elevate research impact through leadership beyond your own projects: mentor other researchers, uplevel our research practices, and introduce innovative methods/tooling when it increases speed and rigor
- 8+ years of experience leading product research for consumer‑facing digital products, including owning complex problem spaces
- Mixed‑method, collaborative research experience working with designers and product managers
- Experience using AI tools throughout the research process
- Demonstrated ability to generate clear and concise insights that deliver successful product outcomes
- Experience thriving in high‑velocity environments while maintaining strong research rigor and craft
- Experience conducting international research or working with globally diverse audiences
- Familiarity with SQL
- Experience in consumer tech or gaming

Salary Range:
$181,600 — $272,400 USD
