The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The Polleux Lab, a cutting-edge neuroscience laboratory at the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, is seeking a highly motivated Research Staff Assistant to assist in investigating the role of microglia in synaptic connectivity.

This is a full-time grant funded position.

Responsibilities

Under the structured supervision of the PI, responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with performing techniques such as fixed tissue slicing, tissue dissociation, cell sorting, and cell staining and washing.
  • Assist with basic mouse handling and preparation for survival and non-survival surgical procedures.
  • Assist in performing tasks involving flow cytometry, microbiology, and molecular biology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-3 Months of experience in a research environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry techniques.
  • Must be comfortable working with vertebrate animals such as fish and mice.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-starter, with meticulous laboratory habits.
