We are seeking a Senior Scientist – Metabolomics to join a growing life sciences organization in New York. This is a hands-on laboratory position for a scientist with strong experience in LC-MS/MS, metabolomics,
lipidomics , or small-molecule analysis .
You will help develop and improve analytical methods, perform and analyze experiments, troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, and support research projects from initial method development through final results . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced analytical scientist who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, method development, and solving complex scientific problems
Responsibilities- Develop, optimize, and validate LC-MS/MS methods for metabolomics, lipidomics , and small-molecule analysis.
- Prepare and analyze biological samples using techniques such as protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), and solid-phase extraction (SPE).
- Operate and troubleshoot LC and mass spectrometry systems , including triple quadrupole and high-resolution mass spectrometers.
- Analyze and interpret mass spectrometry data, including metabolite identification and small-molecule quantification.
- Support instrument maintenance, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare SOPs, validation documentation, and technical reports.
- Work with other scientists and project teams to plan studies, solve technical challenges, and communicate results.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists as needed.
- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life sciences field with 2+ years of relevant post-graduate experience , OR a Master's
degree with 5+ years of relevant experience . - Hands‑on experience with LC‑MS/MS and mass spectrometry instrumentation .
- Experience with metabolomics,
lipidomics , metabolite analysis, or quantitative small‑molecule analysis . - Experience developing, optimizing, or validating analytical methods.
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry platforms such as SCIEX QTRAP 6500,
Thermo Q
Exactive , triple quadrupole systems, or comparable instrumentation . - Experience preparing biological samples for LC-MS analysis.
- Working knowledge of LC separation techniques such as reversed‑phase chromatography and/or HILIC.
- Ability to troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation and independently interpret scientific data.
- Strong documentation, communication, and project‑management skills.
Experience with
GLP environments, assay validation, SOP development, and regulated pharmaceutical or bioanalytical laboratory work is highly valued.
