We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician. In this role, the successful candidate Translational Aging Neurogenetics Laboratory (TANGL), Center for Human Genetics and Genomics & Department of Neurology, Principal Investigator:
Anil R. Wadhwani, MD, PhD. TANGL is seeking an experienced Research Technician to help establish and support our experimental program in human stem cell models of brain aging and neurodegenerative disease. Our laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that shape brain aging, Alzheimer's disease, other tauopathies, and cognitive resilience. We combine human genetics and epigenomics, biomarkers, computational approaches, and experimental models to understand why some people remain resilient despite aging or disease.
The Research Technician will take substantial responsibility for the laboratory's human iPSC platform, including cell culture, quality control, banking, differentiation workflows, experimental execution, and laboratory organization. This position is well suited for a technically strong researcher interested in a long-term path in laboratory management, academic research, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry research, or additional graduate training. - Maintain and bank human iPSC cultures.
- Support and optimize neural differentiation workflows.
- Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments.
- Support CRISPR-based genome and epigenome perturbation studies.
- Perform microscopy and quantitative cellular phenotyping.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, inventories, and laboratory workflows.
- Help establish reproducible protocols and quality-control procedures.
- Participate in laboratory meetings and collaborative research.
- With experience, help train junior laboratory members.
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree with one to two years of relevant research experience, or a Master's degree in a relevant field.
- At least one year of hands‑on mammalian cell culture experience.
- Ability to perform established procedures independently after onboarding.
- Strong organization, documentation, communication, and attention to detail.
- Strongly preferred: prior human iPSC experience, neural differentiation, CRISPR, microscopy, molecular biology, image analysis, or experience in neuroscience, aging, genetics, or genomics.
Candidates are not expected to have experience with every technique listed above. Technical depth, reliability, and willingness to learn are more important than breadth.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
