Manager, Research​/Development

The opportunity

We're partnering with a fast-growing, independent strategic insights consultancy looking to appoint a Manager to its US healthcare team.

With a team of around 30 healthcare specialists in the US, the consultancy works with leading pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, helping clients make strategic commercial decisions across the product lifecycle.

Primary market research sits at the heart of the business, complemented by secondary data, strategic thinking and an increasingly broad commercial perspective. The team has built a particularly strong reputation for translating complex research into clear, actionable recommendations and compelling stories that drive client decision‑making.

This is a hands‑on Manager position for someone who is already an expert in pharmaceutical/healthcare primary market research and is comfortable taking day‑to‑day ownership of multiple projects, clients and project teams.

You'll take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management and successful delivery of multiple healthcare research projects, typically working across several projects concurrently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing full project life cycles, from proposal development and research design through fieldwork, analysis and final delivery
• Managing multiple concurrent projects, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of delivery
• Acting as the primary day‑to‑day contact for clients and building strong, trusted relationships
• Leading project teams and managing Associates and Senior Associates on a day‑to‑day basis
• Designing robust research approaches that address clients' commercial and strategic questions
• Working across qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed‑method research
• Overseeing research materials, fieldwork, analysis and insight development
• Moving beyond the findings to identify the commercial implications, strategic story and actionable recommendations
• Leading and contributing to client presentations and strategic discussions
• Supporting and developing junior members of the team through coaching and mentorship
• Contributing to proposals and wider business development activity
• Helping develop innovative approaches and methodologies as the consultancy continues to broaden its capabilities

The priority for this hire is strong healthcare/pharmaceutical primary market research expertise. This is more important than coming from a pure strategy consulting background.

You'll ideally have:

• 5+ years' experience within healthcare/pharmaceutical market research, life sciences consulting or a closely related environment
• Strong primary market research expertise
• Experience managing research projects from initial brief through to final delivery
• The ability to confidently manage several projects simultaneously within a fast‑paced consultancy environment
• Strong client management skills and experience acting as the day‑to‑day client lead
• Experience managing and developing junior researchers
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn research findings into meaningful strategic and commercial recommendations
• Strong communication, storytelling and presentation skills
• A proactive, driven and hands‑on approach
• The ability to think critically, challenge assumptions and bring new ideas to clients and project teams
