This is a full-time on-site role for a Scientist Mass Spectrometry Specialist at Stira Pharmaceuticals located in the New York City Metropolitan Area. We are seeking a highly skilled Scientist, Mass Spectrometry Specialist with a strong background in small-molecule and peptide analysis—particularly nitrosamine characterization to lead LC-MS/MS and HR-MS method development, validation, and routine testing. The ideal candidate will ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance while collaborating across R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams.

• Develop, optimize, and validate LC-MS/MS and high-resolution MS methods for small molecules, nitrosamines, and peptides.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on pharmaceutical samples.
• Investigate and resolve instrument performance issues, carryover, matrix effects, and unexpected analytes.
• Interpret spectra, integrate chromatograms, and prepare clear, concise reports.
• Ensure all data meet GMP/GLP standards and support regulatory submissions.
• Maintain and tune mass spectrometers (e.g., triple quadrupole, Q-TOF).
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and vendor service visits.
• Work with formulation, stability, and quality teams to define analytical strategies.
• Train junior scientists and provide technical guidance on mass-spectrometry applications.

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• ≥ 3 years hands‑on experience with LC-MS/MS and high‑resolution MS in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
• Proven track record analyzing small molecules, nitrosamine impurities, and peptide therapeutics.
• Strong understanding of electrospray ionization (ESI), MALDI, MRM, and accurate‑mass workflows.
• Familiarity with data processing software (e.g., Mass Hunter, Xcalibur, Skyline).
• Working knowledge of GMP/GLP requirements and FDA/EMA guidelines for method validation.
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to draft technical protocols and reports.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to mentor junior staff.
