Summary

This position is located at the Peak but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division. The job is for the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York.

• You must live within 100 miles of Fort Drum, NY.
• If you are a Non-U.S. National, you must have lived in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory for at least three years in a row before starting the job.
• Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) are included.

• Prepares a variety of short-order fast food items, slices vegetables, and serves food and alcoholic beverages to patrons. May also operate a mobile food cart for deliveries.
• Takes customer orders, operates a cash register, accepts cash and charge payments, and completes a daily cash report at the end of each shift.
• Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, including tables, floors, walls, and equipment, following all safety and housekeeping rules.
• Orders food items and supplies, receives and stores deliveries, and coordinates food and beverage needs for special events.

• Direct deposit and Social Security Card required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one‑year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactory completion of an Employment Verification (E‑Verify) check.
• Light to heavy physical effort is required.
• Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds.
• Must have the mental, physical, oral, and audio ability to perform all duties safely.
• Requires walking, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and standing for long periods.
• May use ladders, power‑cleaning equipment, and be exposed to hot liquids, cutting blades, and extreme temperatures.
• Hazard of falling from a ladder or slipping on spilled food or beverages.
• May work indoors in standard kitchen conditions and outdoors in varied weather while running a food cart.
• Completion of at least 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and an annual refresher of 4 hours.
• Must meet state/local age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre‑employment checks per Army Regulation 215‑3.
• Requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
• A physical examination, arranged by the employer, is required before employment.
• Willing to accept intermittent, on‑call employment.
• Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
• Work schedule will be irregular: nights, weekends, holidays, and unique events.

• Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
• Ability to keep work area clean, neat, and in order.
• Experience applying basic food preparation and handling techniques.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Familiar with basic sanitization principles.
• Ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, pull, push, and reach for long periods.
• Ability to regularly lift and move items weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds.

This position falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. Employees may receive overtime pay, Sun‑premium pay, and additional pay for evening hours.
