Part‑Time Line Cook

The Queen Maeve | New York City

The Queen Maeve is seeking an experienced Part‑Time Line Cook to join our growing kitchen team. This role is ideal for a motivated cook who thrives in a fast‑paced, mid-sized NYC kitchen and takes pride in technique, consistency, and teamwork.

Position Overview

This role focuses on preparing high‑quality menu items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and event service while continuously refining speed, precision, and execution. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to food safety and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and execute all menu items during service periods, including events
  • Set up stations with proper par levels and maintain mise en place throughout the shift
  • Follow all recipes and portion control guidelines as established by the restaurant
  • Prepare ingredients and recipes as directed by the Head Chef
  • Ensure freshness, quality, and consistency of all prep items
  • Obtain Head Chef's taste and sign-off on all prepped items before storage
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment at all times, including:
    • Prep tables, sinks, walk‑ins, lowboys, dry storage
    • Ovens, stovetops, floors, and surrounding kitchen areas
  • Properly cool, label, store, and rotate food according to health department standards
  • Use kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives, Vitamix, Robo Coupe, ovens, burners, food processors, slicers, grills, pots, and pans
  • Remain calm and efficient under pressure while coordinating and multitasking during service
  • Complete opening and closing side‑work as assigned
  • Maintain and properly store all tools required for the station
  • Report any equipment breakage or damage immediately to management
  • Always treat guests and team members with courtesy, respect, honesty, and integrity
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel (required)
  • Strong knife skills and foundational cooking techniques
  • Knowledge of sanitary food handling and safety procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8+ hours per shift
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail, consistency, and quality
  • Team‑oriented mindset with a desire to learn and improve daily
