Tranquillity Camp
Tranquillity Camp is a sleep‑away camp located in the Catskills in New York, about 20 miles south of Albany, NY. This position requires relocation for the following dates:
Summer 2026 DatesMay 11 – August 21
st (15 weeks)
- Guests for Memorial Day weekend as well as other weekends before camp (light work)
- Staff orientation begins June 24 (medium work)
- Camp dates are June 29 – August 18 (heaviest workload)
- Clean‑up – August 18 – 21 (light work)
Included with Compensation:
Assistance with travel if necessary and onsite private housing provided. All meals included. Discounted camper tuition available for candidates with children that would like to attend camp.
- Knowledge of Kashrut
- In‑depth knowledge and at least 5 years experience with kitchen operations in camp food service or similar
- Experience cooking in a commercial kitchen
- Serve Safe Certification (or something comparable – we will assist in obtaining this if needed)
- Aptitude to accommodate various food allergies and sensitivities
- Ability to adhere to predetermined menus while being flexible when/if needed
- Proficiency in planning for and ordering food items while being financially responsible and staying within budget guidelines
- Good interpersonal skills and experience with managing a team and being a positive team leader and team player
- Desire to go above and beyond outlined responsibilities and do excellent work
- Preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner for approximately 325 staff and campers
- Oversee end‑to‑end kitchen operations from food prep to food service and kitchen clean‑up
- Seven day work week (possible breaks with advanced planning)
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff of 8‑10 people (plus camper waiters)
- Assistance with menu planning as needed, including planning for food sensitivities and allergies
- Assistance in ordering and purchasing as needed
- Ensure quality, safety, wholesomeness, and cleanliness of all food and kitchen equipment and operations
- Adhering to New York State Department of Health regulations and guidelines
- Pre‑season set‑up, post‑camp clean‑up and proper long‑term storage of food and equipment
