Assistant Cook

The Viscardi Center is seeking an Assistant Cook to be responsible for the preparation and service of high quality school student meals. This includes prepping ingredients, cooking items, and cleaning the kitchen throughout the day. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, able to multitask in a busy kitchen and has prior kitchen experience.

• Prepare student meals and assist front end staff with making made-to-order meals
• Perform cleaning duties such as washing dishes, wiping counters, cleaning kitchen area, equipment and pots, pans, etc.
• Ensure food safety standards are met and followed
• Receive and store food items according to Department of Health, safety and sanitation guidelines
• Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout the cooking process
• Ensure kitchen is properly stocked with food supplies
• Assist with cash register as necessary

• High school diploma or equivalent. Serv Safe certification preferred
• Two years on hands on experience with commercial kitchen equipment, ability to measure ingredients and follow recipes
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
• Must be able to follow instructions and adhere to food safety guidelines
• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
