Job Overview

Join the team at Crosby Street Hotel, one of New York’s most stylish luxury boutique hotels. We are looking for a dedicated Kitchen Steward to support our culinary operations at The Crosby Bar. This essential, behind-the-scenes role is the backbone of our kitchen, ensuring a clean, organized, and highly functional environment for our culinary team to work in.

Taking instructions from senior members of the kitchen brigade, you will take a hands-on approach to help support them throughout a busy service, ensuring our operations run seamlessly while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety. At Crosby Street Hotel, you’ll gain valuable hospitality experience in a luxury setting while being part of a passionate, creative, and supportive team that takes pride in excellence.

What We’re Looking For:

• Kitchen Operations Support: Assist the chef in running the operation of the kitchen throughout the night, supporting the culinary team during service to ensure everything runs seamlessly.
• Dishwashing & Equipment Maintenance: Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment to exceptional standards. Demonstrate a technical understanding and ability to safely operate and maintain the dish machine and other equipment, including re-loading chemicals into dispensers in a safe manner.
• Cleanliness & Sanitation: Maintain high levels of cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen. Keep the workspace spotless by cleaning floors, surfaces, and heavy-duty equipment. Complete thorough end-of-shift cleaning and closing duties.
• Waste Management: Remove garbage on a regular basis and handle waste, recycling, and compost safely and in compliance with hotel recycling policies.
• Deliveries & Stock Rotation: Assist with any incoming deliveries and manage the stock rotation of storage units where required. This includes restocking clean dishes and working inside walk-in refrigerators and handling ice.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain strict health, safety, and food hygiene standards, strictly complying with local regulations (NYC DOH + HACCP).

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward, porter, dishwasher, or general experience within a professional kitchen environment is preferred, but a willingness to learn is highly valued.
• Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work comfortably in both hot and cold environments (such as walk-in refrigerators and hot line areas).
