Platypus Productions LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Merchandise Manager to support the daily operations, sales, and promotion of merchandise for one of our high-profile US touring productions.

The RoleAs Assistant Merchandise Manager, you will support the Tour Merchandise Manager in overseeing on-site retail operations while travelling with the production. You will help drive sales performance, maintain operational excellence, and lead local venue selling teams to deliver outstanding customer service at every stop on the tour.
Key Responsibilities- Support daily merchandise sales operations at venues across the United States
- Assist with venue load-in and load-out, including stock movement and display setup
- Deliver an exceptional customer service experience to theatre patrons
- Manage inventory, conduct regular stock counts, and help minimise shrinkage
- Liaise with producers, venue management, and key partners
- Partner with the operations team to engage, brief, and manage local selling teams
- Build strong working relationships with venue, production, and head office teams
- Assist in creating visually engaging and commercially effective retail displays
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a touring, retail, or supervisory role
- Theatre or live touring experience preferred
- Organised and detail-oriented, with strong administrative skills
- Confident team leader with experience training and motivating staff
- Experience in visual merchandising and retail presentation
- Comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting
- Flexible and willing to move between productions as business needs require
- Experience with cash handling and POS systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to positively engage with customers, theatre staff, and production crews
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure environments
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently
- Availability to travel with the show, including nights and weekends
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
