Sets departmental standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability. Supervises Night Stock employees and ensures trucks are unloaded and merchandise is properly stocked.

Accountable to and reports to:
District Store Director;
Store Manager;
Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce.

Positional staff:
Night Stock Employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive attitude and create a friendly, collaborative atmosphere.
  • Encourage employees to greet and assist customers, providing prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
  • Set department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and profitability.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service with caring and patience, treating customers as the most important.
  • Smiles and greets customers, learning and addressing them by name whenever possible.
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing items out of reach, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along suggestions or requests, and performing other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly service to callers.
  • Order products from the warehouse, manage pre-orders, track department orders, prepare per-orders, coordinate with assistant managers, and assign part‑time duties.
  • Supervise night stock crew, assign tasks, and hold employee consultations.
  • Directly supervise assistant managers, departments, and custodian crews.
  • Coordinate the CARS system: inventory sub‑docks, set reordering triggers, maintain the system, remove damaged or mixed picks, remove inventory used by departments, and generate and review orders.
  • Unload trucks, break down pallets, pull pallets to the back room, and sort items to appropriate locations.
  • Check vendor deliveries piece by piece (e.g., Lomar check‑in, bread, chips).
  • Supervise drop shipment and direct store deliveries.
  • Write night stock schedule, monitor time‑off, vacation, sick call‑ins, and overtime hours.
  • Train new employees in handling pulls, order tags, UPCs, checking, sacking, stocking, etc.; train supervisors on register handling, customer service, and department services.
  • Monitor productivity and review crew members individually.
  • Troubleshoot the repair of store equipment, including electrical/cash register systems, coolers, compressors, machine rooms, display cases, etc.
  • Maintain adherence to department and company guidelines on personal hygiene and dress.
  • Follow company policies and store guidelines and report to work on schedule.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Run back stock and understock: cereal, paper, juice; fill holes as needed.
  • Assist with customer‑service operations: checkout, checking, sacking, carry‑outs; manage cash accountability, day‑end reports, close registers; open registers at day start; handle and resolve customer issues via phone or in‑person.
  • Meet with crew weekly or as needed.
  • Set and reset new items and tags; adjust prices as required.
  • Set in‑store specials for prior ad items; price using cost‑plus percentage; tag items; raise prices when supply is gone.
  • Supervise produce and frozen‑food trucks while unloading, ensuring items are placed in the proper coolers.
  • Assist in other store areas as needed.
  • Perform other job‑related duties and special projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Instruct, assign work, review work, plan work of others, maintain standards, allocate personnel, and coordinate activities of others.
  • Select new employees and address employee problems.
  • Recommend transferring, promoting, disciplining, or discharging employees and salary increases.
