Overview

Our client is seeking a Store Manager to lead the opening and ongoing success of its first flagship store in SoHo, New York. This full‑time, on‑site role is a hands‑on selling manager position with responsibility for sales leadership, daily operations, team management, loss prevention, and a highly personalized luxury client experience. The store will represent a growing luxury business known for fine and high jewelry, including one‑of‑a‑kind pieces, with expanding categories in fragrance and apparel.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced luxury retail leader who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and can help build a flagship business from the ground up.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the launch of the flagship store, supporting the full opening process to ensure a successful and timely debut.
  • Partner with leadership and external vendors on store opening priorities, including operations, security, technology, visual presentation, and back‑of‑house setup.
  • Help define the store operating model, including hours, staffing coverage, service approach, and year‑one budget planning.
  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and develop the founding store team, including keyholders and sales associates.
  • Set the tone for a luxury service culture through coaching, daily leadership, product knowledge training, and clear client experience standards.
  • Drive store performance against approximately $5M in first‑year revenue, while personally contributing approximately $1M in individual sales.
  • Build and maintain a strong clienteling strategy through outreach, appointments, follow‑up, special orders, and private selling.
  • Deliver a high‑touch selling experience across jewelry, fragrance, and apparel, identifying opportunities for cross‑category selling and increased basket size.
  • Support launch assortment planning and provide ongoing feedback on sell‑through, client demand, and replenishment needs.
  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, deposits, shipment processing, transfers, repairs, and documentation.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and serialized product integrity through cycle counts, full counts, and disciplined stockroom organization.
  • Enforce loss prevention, high‑value product handling, and security protocols, including key, safe, and vault controls.
  • Manage controllable expenses and support store profitability through strong operational discipline.
  • Ensure the store environment meets elevated visual and service standards, with strong attention to presentation, lighting, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Plan and execute store events, private appointments, previews, and local partnership activity to drive qualified traffic and client acquisition.
  • Track and report key business metrics, including traffic, conversion, average transaction value, units per transaction, client growth, outreach activity, and event results.
Requirements
  • Several years of Store Manager experience in luxury retail sales.
  • Required experience in fine jewelry or high jewelry.
  • Proven success as a selling manager, with the ability to achieve individual sales goals while leading overall store performance.
  • Experience serving a broad luxury clientele with varied tastes, from classic to more fashion‑forward or directional styles.
  • Comfort working in a smaller, entrepreneurial company environment where flexibility and hands‑on execution are essential.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience hiring, coaching, and performance managing store teams.
  • Solid operational and administrative capabilities, including inventory control, cash management, compliance, and loss prevention.
  • Ability to manage high‑value merchandise with discretion, accuracy, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting client relationships and represent the business with polish and credibility.
  • Availability to work full‑time on site in New York, NY.
  • Compensation is expected to be in the $150,000 to $180,000 total range, inclusive of base salary and commission or bonus opportunity.
