About the RoleThe Human Resources Expert at Target supports teams and leaders, addressing talent, staffing, and compliance needs while fostering a safe, engaging, and mission‑aligned work environment.
Responsibilities- Create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
- Greet guests warmly: smile, make eye contact, or wave.
- Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
- End every transaction with a sincere thank you.
- Support teammates and leaders in staffing, recruiting, and training initiatives.
- Lead focused recruiting efforts to help store leaders hire suitable candidates.
- Advocate continuous learning and support team member training needs.
- Be an expert resource for scheduling systems and pay practices.
- Listen to and collaborate with team members and leaders to address concerns and take appropriate action.
- Deliver all Human Resources processes and programs to maximize engagement and minimize business disruption.
- Support leaders in following company compliance policies that mitigate risk to the team member experience.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Work safely at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
- Perform any additional duties as needed based on business requirements.
- Enjoy interacting and helping others, including guests and teammates.
- Thrive in a fast‑moving, highly active, and physically demanding environment that requires teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem‑solving.
- Be open to a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times).
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
- Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and related technology equipment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Work both independently and as part of a team.
- Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
- Maintain focus and composure in a fast‑paced environment; complete multiple tasks within established time frames.
- Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
- Frequently lift or move merchandise up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds, without additional assistance.
- Work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive‑Up, carry‑out).
- Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift; shift length may vary.
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); attend scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
