About The Role
This position of Vendor Relations Manager is focused on ensuring the right products are available when and where needed for all dispensaries across the national retail footprint. You will have an in-depth knowledge of cannabis products and inform the business of what is attractive to customers. You’ll maintain & leverage relationships with third-party cannabis providers, and utilize business intelligence tools for data‑driven decision‑making.

- Act as the professional face of The Botanist retail brand within the vendor community and broader marketplace.
- Build and maintain strong industry relationships while promoting the company’s values, reputation, and competitive presence.
- Drive the development of best‑in‑class vendor agreements by advocating for favorable terms, innovative partnerships, and mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with third‑party cultivators and manufacturers, known for your responsiveness, friendliness, and commitment to mutual value.
- Track, document, and evaluate vendor deliverables, service levels, and contractual obligations. Identify gaps, enforce accountability, and collaborate with vendors to address issues and continuously improve partnership performance.
- Lead the buying team in executing purchasing strategies that balance supply and demand, maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce out‑of‑stocks, and minimize aging or excess inventory.
- Oversee and be accountable to retail inventory par levels.
- Analyze inventory performance metrics to optimize stock levels, improve turnover rates, and align purchasing with demand forecasts, while identifying effective strategies, mitigating risks, and uncovering opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to lead profitability discussions with internal teams and external partners, with a strong understanding of vendor and retail P&Ls.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to align inventory strategy with the needs of both retail and wholesale operations.
- Partner with the National Director of Retail and Sr. Retail Marketing and Operations Manager on Pricing & Promotions to conduct costing and ROI analyses for promotions with third‑party vendors, fostering mutually beneficial relationships.
- Coordinate with the National Director of Retail or Retail Area Managers to ensure compliance with governing and regulatory bodies, managing inventory allocation caps effectively.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned by your manager.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of retail buying, merchandising, planning or related experience.
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of procurement, logistics and inventory management practices.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
- Proficiency with inventory systems and office equipment.
