A Retail Sales Associate is responsible for assisting customers throughout the buying process. Responsibilities include greeting customers, helping them locate products, providing information, ringing up purchases on the POS register, and maintaining a customer‑focused environment.

• Use the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) process with every customer interaction.
• Greet every customer, making eye contact wherever they enter the store.
• Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies.
• Be at your workstation on time and remain customer ready whenever on the sales floor.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Recommend related items and execute the S.A.L.E.S. process.
• Keep your area neat, clean, stocked, and priced properly.
• Execute daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management.
• Assist in the training and development of peers.
• Actively participate in daily huddle meetings.
• Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
• Offer a carry‑out when appropriate.
• Answer the telephone correctly.
• Monitor for potential merchandise losses and report missing or damaged items.
• Address safety concerns immediately.
• Notify management of pricing errors or when refusing a customer request.
• Take initiative to learn product knowledge and selling skills.
• Perform other tasks as requested by store management.

• Aid customers in locating merchandise in store, on , and processing special orders.
• Proficiently execute store services such as mixing paint, cutting glass, pipe, and keys.
• Ensure shipments are packed correctly and over‑stock is removed.
• Participate in processing new shipments and help keep receiving and back‑stock areas clean and organized.

• Ring each transaction accurately.
• Always ask for the Loyalty Card before starting a transaction and sign the customer up if needed.
• Call for help when more than three customers are waiting.
• Keep busy around registers when not ringing.
• Process merchandise returns as needed.

• Walking – frequent, flat surfaces from point to point.
• Standing – constant, all work performed on feet.
• Stooping – frequent, to pick up cartons at floor level.
• Reaching – frequent, to a height of 6 feet.
• Lifting – frequent, up to 60 lbs., up to 500 repetitions per hour to a height of 4 feet (top of register); must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. comfortably.
• Hand dexterity – frequent, at least one hand must be able to operate a register and complete paperwork.
• Pushing/pulling – frequent, moving hand jacks from place to place.
• Carrying – frequent, up to 50 lbs., up to 10 feet, occasionally more.
• Climbing – infrequent, using stairs in storage rooms and ladders.
• Vision – constant, reading labels, recognizing boxes, and ensuring safety.
• Hearing – constant, hearing safety signals.
