Job Title:

Taste NY Market Store Associate

• Provide customer service – greet, assist, and serve the needs of Taste NY store customers.
• Describe the local farms, produce, food and products displayed.
• Prepare and serve fresh made breakfast and lunch items, including soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and hot and cold beverages.
• Clean and prepare food prep areas.
• Operate point of sale cash register, make change, and follow all cash control procedures.
• Stock and replenish store supplies and inventory; track product inventory.
• Prepare and display product and food demonstrations.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining a visually distinctive and impeccably maintained store.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Notify supervisors of any unique or emergency situations.
• Assist with store inspection, organization and record‑keeping.
• Receive and log scheduled deliveries.
• Assist with promotion of agri‑tourism in Columbia & Greene Counties.
• Maintain equipment, troubleshoot when necessary, and call for repair as directed.
• Frequently lift, move and/or transport Market products, supplies, and equipment (typically 20–50lbs).
• Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, receipts, and supporting documentation in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.

• Co‑develop and pursue a professional development plan in cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director to increase competencies and address changes and Association priorities.
• Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to effectively work in an informal, educational‑based retail environment and ensure positive public educational and customer service experiences.
• Strong communication skills – ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
• Proficiency in English (speak, read, and write).
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to work flexible hours related to the Market schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Work environment: retail setting, ability to maneuver around the sales floor, stockroom, and office; operate point of sale register, office computer, and other equipment.
• Ability to lift, move and/or transport Market products, supplies and equipment (typically 20–50lbs).

• One (1) year retail sales experience.
• Experience working in customer service and retail environments.
• Understanding of basic marketing.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with internet‑based communications.
• Knowledge of the organization, operation, philosophy and objectives of Cooperative Extension.
• Knowledge of agriculture and agricultural practices.

Multiple positions available, including full‑time, part‑time, and seasonal (temporary). Compensation is $18.00 per hour. No relocation or VISA sponsorship available.
