Job Description
OverviewThe Business Development Manager (BDM) will play an instrumental role in demand creation for the Commercial Roof & Wall (CRW) segment in the western region. Over the next three years, expanding MBCI’s market share within CRW will represent the largest percentage of growth. In the long term, the BDM will broaden business development into all Components Division and, as applicable, the Shelter Solutions Business Unit.
Scope- Generate $50M–$100M in annual project opportunity volume.
- Collaborate with architects to create project specifications and establish yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Actively manage and qualify all inbound leads; streamline lead assignment, implement new tracking strategies, and drive conversion efficiency.
- Coordinate with District Managers to transition specifications into revenue‑generating projects.
- Analyze market data to extract insights and develop targeted sales strategies within Components.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic accounts, maintaining strong relationships to drive long‑term growth.
- Execute and deliver the business development strategy to position Cornerstone Building Brands as the market leader across multiple go‑to‑market channels.
- Use technology to establish processes and systems for prospecting new CRW opportunities and securing specifications for incremental growth.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Commercial Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Sales, Marketing) to drive coordinated strategies.
- Identify and pursue new and emerging sectors to expand market opportunities for Components.
- Establish processes and best practices for data insights gathering and product positioning with tools such as Microsoft Dynamics, Construct Connect, Dodge, Spec Link, etc.
- Coordinate with Marketing to align product specifications with market demands, update documentation, and address testing requirements.
- Attend customer meetings, industry events, and deliver lunch‑and‑learn presentations within the assigned territory.
- Serve as a customer advocate while collaborating with internal teams to deliver results.
- Perform other duties as assigned as the portfolio evolves.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, sales, marketing, or a related field (strongly preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or strategic account management.
- Strong technical product selling knowledge.
- Ability to influence customers to adopt new ideas, products, or approaches.
- Excellent marketing and sales process understanding to determine impactful solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Remote office location acceptable with 50% travel.
- Ideal candidate resides in the Western US.
The US average base salary for this role is $95,000–$110,000, plus sales incentive and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more starting day 1. Full‑time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.
