Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our NYC, NY office. This role involves sourcing and developing new revenue-generating relationships. The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Vice President of Sales and will be responsible for selling Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) using a robust network within target sectors and verticals. A proven record of influencing C-suite decision-makers is essential.
A background in real estate, finance, energy, or related fields will be advantageous. Immediate impact and a driven approach to market penetration are expected. This role suits a growth-focused, entrepreneurial individual.
- Pursue new business opportunities and enhance existing account relationships.
- Strategically drive the development and execution of sales plans to secure and expand Commercial & Industrial client relationships in target markets.
- Conduct comprehensive market analyses to uncover growth opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior-level executives, offering tailored solutions that meet their sustainability and financial objectives.
- Negotiate and close agreements with C-suite decision-makers, ensuring client satisfaction and achieving company business goals.
- Collaborate closely with project management and technical teams to ensure flawless execution of services.
- Understand, communicate, and sell sophisticated project financing options.
- Review and present proposals effectively.
- Achieve sales targets consistently.
- Maintain detailed records of sales activities, analyze and report on sales outcomes, pipeline status, and market insights.
- Enhance the company’s presence and visibility through active participation in industry events, conferences, and networking gatherings.
- Understanding of accounting concepts.
- Professional appearance and demeanor suitable for C-Suite and Board level presentations.
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and adaptability to new technologies.
- Strong commitment to sustainability and advancing energy-efficient solutions.
- Familiarity with financing structures (training on company-specific service offerings provided, but a base knowledge of finance is advantageous).
- Ability to schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Capability to work independently and within a team structure.
- Analytical skills to uncover prospect needs and devise effective solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful solution selling experience.
- Experience selling to C-suite and/or Board level executives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. MBA is a plus.
- B2B sales experience.
- Background in energy, sustainability, finance, or related fields.
- Proven success in achieving sales targets in competitive environments and mentoring team members.
- Extensive knowledge of the commercial and industrial landscapes in local and national markets.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong independent work ethic and exemplary team collaboration abilities.
