Discover Grey is a national media company which holds media properties in news, podcast and IRL events in the United States.

The Role

Discover Grey is hiring a Freelance Commission-Based Sales Consultant to grow our presence by selling:

  • Event Sponsor ships for local and national brands seeking visibility around our curated founder panels and high-intent audience.
  • Custom Brand Activations that create memorable, on-site touchpoints—demos, pop-ups, sampling, and integrated moments aligned to each event’s theme.
  • Private & Partner Events (offsites, launches, client gatherings) shaped by our proven panel format and community reach. Topics include eCommerce and AI, with collaborations that bring industry leaders and platforms into the room.

This is a high-impact, commission-only freelance role—great for someone with hustle, a strong network, and a nose for where brand value meets live experiences.

6-month fixed-term contract. Commission-based pay.

What you’ll do
  • Identify and engage NYC-area businesses and national brands aligned with our audience and themes.
  • Build and manage a qualified sponsorship pipeline; pitch, negotiate, and close opportunities.
  • Package and sell private events using the Discover Grey playbook (agenda, format, audience strategy).
  • Partner with the New York and central team to deliver activations that meet client objectives—from brand visibility to attendee experience.
  • Track outreach, meetings, proposals, and conversions using CRM and prospecting tools.
Who you are
  • Experience in B2B/B2C sales, partnerships, sponsor ships, or business development—ideally tied to live events, media, or culture.
  • Energized by commission-based work; consistent closer with consultative EQ.
  • Clear communicator who can translate brand goals into activation plans.
  • Deep knowledge of New York’s business and cultural landscape (media, finance, tech, DTC, fashion, hospitality, agencies).
  • Existing network of relevant contacts (brand marketers, founders, agencies, event planners).
  • Comfortable with prospecting and CRM tools (e.g., Hub Spot, Seamless.

    AI).
Compensation

Commission-only: 10–20% of gross revenue per closed deal. Sponsorship tiers typically start around $800–$1,800+ per event, with larger custom activations priced higher—earnings scale with the opportunities you bring in.

Estimated monthly range: $1,000–$4,000, depending on deal flow and size.
