Associate Account Executive
The Associate Account Executive (AAE) provides sales support for Account Executives (AE) within Disney Entertainment. As the right hand of the AE, the AAE focuses on growing revenue by generating new business, retaining existing clients, and expanding opportunities across both multimedia and addressable products in the Disney portfolio, which includes ABC, Disney, ESPN, Hulu, Freeform, FX, Nat Geo, and domestic broadcast television networks.
All AAEs are empowered to drive both addressable and multimedia revenue, with the allocation of focus guided by local management. The AAE is expected to understand key sales drivers for the total business (multimedia & addressable) and will drive accountability and clarity of account ownership within customer relationship management platforms (e.g., Salesforce) for both the AE and AAE.
This role is part of our Local Strategic Partnerships team and focuses on prospecting, cold calling, and generating net new business across our local-market portfolio, including ABC Owned Stations, cross‑portfolio geo‑targeted streaming, unwired linear tent‑pole campaigns, and more.
Pre‑Sales:
The AAE coordinates marketing and planning to answer RFPs, create pitches, and respond to marketing briefs with sales communication, insights, and marketing solutions teams. The AAE understands the total book of business (linear & digital) to identify new opportunities for clients before an RFP is delivered. The AAE partners with the Insights team to develop qualitative information for pre‑sale planning and deck completion.
The AAE does not build plans but can coordinate and align with the planning team. In addition to prospecting, the AAE can be empowered to lead sales efforts on specific accounts (e.g., build plans, pitch, and sell).
Active Campaign:
The AAE delivers white‑glove customer service to clients and agencies, working with marketing, advertising opportunities, and research teams to ensure that campaign elements are delivered in full. The AAE prepares deal memos and coordinates “Playbooks” for larger campaigns and can lead weekly agency status calls or emails on ratings/reporting on campaigns. Coordination with ad opportunities on liability and campaign delivery is critical to ensure revenue is recognized.
The AAE also checks that plans are booked in the system, confirms schedules, aligns on CPMs, and ensures all sponsorship elements are executed.
Post‑Sales:
The AAE works alongside the AE to ensure that renewals are likely and that the client will continue to do business with DMED. Responsibilities include coordinating with the sales communication and marketing teams on all recap sites/decks, as well as with research on custom studies, EDO results, or reporting. The AAE can also organize pulling of video clips to share with the agency and provide topline success stories when required.
and Duties of the Role:
- Reports to the Director/RSM, Sales and builds relationships with clients and agencies.
- Gains insight into customer needs and translates them into sellable opportunities.
