Technical Sales Representative – Commercial Roofing Systems
Location: New York City Metro Area
Tiello is partnered with a leading manufacturer’s representative firm specializing in commercial roofing, waterproofing, insulation, and building envelope solutions to identify a Technical Sales Representative focused on roofing systems across the NYC market.
This role is ideal for someone who understands low-slope roofing assemblies, specification selling, and contractor engagement
, and wants to work in a consultative technical sales environment supporting architects, consultants, and commercial roofing contractors.
The Technical Sales Representative will support specification development, contractor relationships, and project tracking across systems such as single-ply, modified bitumen, liquid-applied membranes, insulation, and overburden assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop relationships with commercial roofing contractors, consultants, architects, and building owners
- Promote manufacturer roofing systems including:
- TPO, PVC, EPDM
- SBS / APP modified bitumen
- Insulation and cover boards
- Support specification development and product selection during preconstruction phases
- Deliver technical presentations and lunch-and-learn sessions to design teams
- Assist contractors with system selection, troubleshooting, and installation support
- Track projects from design through bid and award stages
- Identify opportunities to position represented manufacturers early in project cycles
- Coordinate with manufacturer technical teams on complex assemblies
- Support submittals, mockups, and project approvals when required
- Maintain pipeline visibility across active NYC roofing projects
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Commercial roofing technical sales
- Building envelope consulting
- Strong understanding of:
- Low-slope roofing systems
- Insulation assemblies
- Waterproofing tie-ins
- Experience working with architects and envelope consultants preferred
- Ability to read plans, specs, and details
- Familiarity with NYC construction market strongly preferred
- Comfortable leading technical product presentations
- Self-directed with strong relationship-driven selling style
- Roofing manufacturer reps

- Waterproofing / coating specialists
- Technical service reps from JM, Siplast, Carlisle, Tremco, GAF, Sika, Kemper, etc.
- Specification-driven selling environment (not transactional distribution sales)
- Exposure across multiple premium roofing manufacturers
- Direct engagement with NYC’s architecture and consultant community
- Influence projects from design phase through installation
