Account Manager, Technical Sales, Business Development

Position Summary
This field-based Account Executive (Client Director) role is located in the New York Metro area. The successful candidate will sell Optiv security services and technology solutions to less than ten key strategic accounts within a geographic territory, own and coordinate all aspects of the sales cycle, and lead a cross‑functional team to build and execute multi‑year strategic account management plans.
Responsibilities- Own and coordinate all aspects of the sales cycle within assigned account(s).
- Lead a cross‑functional team (Client Solution Architect, Executive Advisory Director, Client Operations Specialist, Client Associates) to develop multi‑year strategic account plans.
- Collaborate with client leadership to refine or build security strategies and propose solutions that meet client security needs.
- Build a large sales pipeline, ideally 3‑4 times assigned targets, and achieve/exceed gross margin objectives in excess of $3.5M annually.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date forecasts and manage multi‑quarter forecasts with high degree of accuracy.
- Execute with discipline and in alignment with Force Management principles such as MEDDICC and Command of the Message.
- Effectively communicate Optiv’s value proposition and maintain strong relationships with technology partners and their sales personnel.
- Initiate, monitor, and mediate communications between clients, vendors, and internal team members.
- Maintain internal communication with Optiv team members regarding opportunities, requirements, and client satisfaction.
- 7–10 years of solution and services‑based sales experience in an Information Technology or Security environment.
- Track record of exceeding multi‑million‑dollar gross margin quotas.
- Experience leading cross‑functional dotted‑line teams comprised of sales, technical, and support personnel.
- Strong business acumen and ability to link business goals with cyber security risk.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience and knowledge of IT security market, Risk & Compliance market, and competitors.
- History of exceeding plan and expectations.
- Experience selling complex, multi‑year hardware, software, services, and financing solutions to Fortune 1000 clients.
- Experience and knowledge of IT infrastructure market and competitors.
- Experience selling management consulting services.
The annual total target compensation ranges from $250,000 to $300,000+. The range includes base salary and an uncapped bonus plan paid on new and renewal business. Compensation is based on responsibilities, experience, education, geography, and other market factors.
