We are partnering with an established apparel business seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead growth across its seasonal categories, including swimwear, outerwear and sleepwear.
This is a hands‑on commercial role for a proven sales leader with a strong business development background, established retail relationships and the ability to generate significant new business across both full‑price and off‑price channels.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the sales strategy, expand existing accounts, open new retail partnerships and identify whitespace opportunities across multiple seasonal product categories.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute the wholesale sales strategy across swimwear, outerwear and sleepwear.
- Drive new business development across full‑price department stores, specialty retailers and off‑price accounts.
- Open new accounts and build long‑term relationships with buyers and senior retail decision‑makers.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, market appointments, line presentations, negotiations and account onboarding.
- Develop category‑specific growth strategies aligned with seasonal buying cycles and retailer requirements.
- Partner with merchandising, design, planning, sourcing and production teams to develop commercially relevant assortments.
- Analyze sales performance, retailer feedback and market trends to identify new revenue opportunities.
- Manage forecasting, pricing, margins, sell‑in and ongoing account performance.
- Support private label opportunities, from initial retailer discussions through product development and execution.
- Establish the commercial processes and account structure required to support scalable growth.
- Proven sales leadership experience within seasonal apparel categories such as swimwear, outerwear or sleepwear.
- Demonstrated success generating significant wholesale revenue and opening new retail accounts.
- Strong business development background with a track record of building business from the ground up.
- Established relationships across full‑price and off‑price retail channels.
- Experience managing major department store, specialty and value‑channel accounts.
- Strong understanding of seasonal calendars, line development, pricing, margins and sales forecasting.
- Private label experience is highly advantageous.
- Commercial, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a hands‑on growth environment.
- Able to balance strategic account planning with direct sales execution.
- New York‑based, with the ability to travel as required.
