Pay: $25.25 – $29.72 per hour.

The Sales Lead will serve on a team that helps REI engage with all of its audiences. You are the face of the company and interact with REI Members and Customers every day, sharing your knowledge of outdoor equipment and services.

• Drive sales through all channels by improving selling behaviors and capitalizing on promotional events.
• Demonstrate sound interest and credible expertise in the product assortment; translate this knowledge into value for customers and guide Retail Sales Specialists to do the same.
• Promote REI's membership and convert non‑members to members, guiding Retail Sales Specialists.
• Prepare the store: stock and coordinate daily stocking process, manage merchandise, execute visual directions, and ensure a compelling presentation, partnering with the Visual Merchandising Point Person.
• Adapt presentation based on changing inventory levels, new products, promotions, and market conditions.
• Identify areas of opportunity and act on them regarding inventory accuracy, price accuracy, and product stock levels.
• Deliver inspirational experiences for members and customers through effective promotion of outdoor programs and outreach.
• Train and mentor new staff, provide direction to peers, coordinate service delivery, and task execution.
• Share feedback with Retail Sales Managers about staffing and scheduling needs.
• Demonstrate initiative and productivity and serve as a role model for Retail Sales Specialists.
• Support and partner with Retail Sales Managers through departmental communication of goals, daily expectations, task assignments, and feedback.

• Previous retail sales and customer service experience (preferred).
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of outdoor activities in the assigned department (preferred).
• Completion of REI Sales and Service Training and Membership Training before working on the sales floor.
• Requires open availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.
