Broker Relations Manager
Reporting directly to the Sales Director and under the strategic oversight of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Insurance Operations, the Broker Relations Manager leads NYSIF’s broker relations team. The role focuses on aligning carrier underwriting appetites with broker pipelines, optimizing portfolio profitability, and positioning NYSIF as the carrier of choice.

- Team Leadership & Performance
- Manage and coach a regional team of Broker Relationship Specialists to hit monthly, quarterly, and annual premium targets.
- Establish clear KPIs regarding broker visit frequencies, pipeline conversion rates, and new account appointments.
- Conduct regular pipeline reviews to unblock high‑value accounts.
- Provide direction and guidance to the broker services unit for post‑sale service requests and complaint elevations.
- Production & Portfolio Management
- Drive profitable premium growth across core business lines by targeting high‑retention, high‑margin broker business.
- Analyze premium data, loss ratios, submission‑to‑quote, and renewal metrics to optimize the broker portfolio.
- Collaborate with Underwriting Leaders to communicate appetite changes, coordinate co‑authored appetite guides, and resolve friction points.
- Strategic Broker Network Development
- Nurture executive‑level partnerships with key regional broker principals, top producers, and network aggregators.
- Oversee the broker onboarding process, ensuring new partners receive portal training, product education, and marketing collateral.
- Design and implement a lead‑generation strategy to build a robust pipeline for future product expansion.
- Conduct introductory meetings with leads and cultivate relationships until handoff to permanent broker relations staff.
- Lead the development of a Broker Dashboard to capture relevant data and maintain periodic updates with PHS, Customer Service, and IT.
- Market Intelligence & Feedback Loops
- Gather field intelligence on competitor pricing, coverage enhancements, and technology platforms to advise product development.
- Represent the insurance company at national and regional industry conventions, trade shows, and broker panels.
- Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to inform sales strategies.
- Utilize CRM software to track team interactions, map broker hierarchies, and generate executive distribution reports.
- 11 years of extensive expertise within the New York insurance market, specifically Workers’ Compensation, Disability Benefits, and Paid Family Leave (PFL); OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field plus 7 years of extensive expertise in the New York insurance market, specifically Workers’ Compensation, Disability Benefits, and Paid Family Leave (PFL).
- Proven track record of managing complex, cross‑functional teams under tight production deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience designing lead‑generation strategies, building sales pipelines, and managing partner relationships through the sales lifecycle.
From $106,898 to $131,665 annually (commensurate with experience).
