BENI RUGS | Sales Director

BENI Rugs is a vertically-integrated innovative rug brand that puts quality heritage craft into conversation with contemporary culture. Each rug is hand-knotted or woven by hand in BENI workshops in Morocco from 100% natural wool.

Location: NYC showroom, five days per week on-site

Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous, results-driven, self-starter who builds rapport easily to lead sales and client relations. We are a small and growing company, so this is both a high-level as well as an in-the-weeds role with significant opportunity to shape and drive strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Create sales strategy with co-founder; develop annual strategic sales and execution plan
  • Own revenue targets, pipeline goals and forecasting accuracy
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for top-tier clients; build strong relationships and communication with principals and senior team members
  • Serve as senior representative of the brand; understand and embody BENI brand story
  • Identify, pursue and close new business opportunities
  • Oversee New York showroom and related procedures, including creating a valuable client experience
  • Travel to key accounts, present collections with expert-level product knowledge and ability to guide client decision-making at client offices and at the New York showroom
  • Partner with marketing to align sales collateral and campaigns with client needs; develop sales strategy for new collection launches
  • Manage New York City sales team; guide team in account management, sales approach, effective communication and problem-solving
  • Facilitate resolution of client concerns and coach team on how to address customer service issues
  • Support all steps of the sales process from initiation to close, including entering sales into software system
  • Own CRM integrity and sales process adherence across the team
  • Facilitate ongoing improvement of internal sales processes to achieve increased efficiencies
  • Partner closely with operations and production to streamline sales fulfillment processes
  • Operate with a vertically-integrated mindset and manage client expectations to protect our internal production while meeting client needs
  • Lead bi-weekly sales calls; prepare and present quarterly reporting and learnings
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales metrics; document key insights and use data to coach team members and leadership on sales opportunities
  • Serve as the primary advisor to the founder on sales strategy, market positioning, and growth priorities
  • Represent BENI at local NYC events in the interior design industry
  • Reports directly to the Founder/CEO; serves as the senior-most sales leader in the organization
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8-10 years of sales leadership and account management experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of managing and developing people
  • Proven track record of owning and hitting revenue targets
  • Comfortable owning a budget and reporting on financial/sales performance
  • Reporting and data analysis
  • Experience operating in a small-medium business environment — comfortable without a large support infrastructure (marketing, ops, admin) and willing to be hands-on
  • Strong strategic planning skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ability to quickly learn new technology
  • Professional demeanor through all forms of communication
  • Strong communicator, including upward — able to synthesize market/sales insight for founders
  • Willingness and ability to develop a business case for travel
  • Enjoys teamwork
