Role Overview

The Sales Development Manager, New York, is a high-impact individual contributor responsible for growing MHI's corporate travel revenue in the greater New York metropolitan area and across assigned national accounts. This role requires a hunter mindset combined with consultative account management skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with deep knowledge of the New York corporate travel landscape, a strong existing network across TMCs and corporate travel buyers, and the drive to open new doors while deepening existing relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive new business development across the Strategic and Advance account tiers — targeting North American corporations and TMC partners
  • Execute the annual RFP process for all assigned accounts, ensuring MHI properties are included as preferred partners across all RFP cycles
  • Implement Systematic Account Management (SAM) principles across the assigned portfolio — including multi-contact relationship mapping, Quarterly Business Reviews, and tailored hotel-brand matching
  • Maintain Salesforce CRM as the primary tool for account management — with full profile completion, activity logging, pipeline accuracy, and contact documentation
  • Execute the individual Action Plan on time and to completion, with full accountability for activity milestones and engagement goals
  • Develop and grow the Advance account pipeline — converting new prospects to Strategic tier partnerships
  • Represent MHI at key industry events including GBTA, NYC-based corporate travel summits, and partner-organized events
  • Coordinate with MHI properties globally to align hotel capabilities with client travel needs and preferred rate negotiations
  • Support small-to-midsize corporate group business across the territory in coordination with hotel group sales teams and MICE sales team
  • Provide regular reporting to the Head of Corporate Travel Sales on account performance, pipeline status, and market intelligence
Required Qualifications
  • 4–7 years of experience in corporate hotel sales, TMC business development, or B2B travel technology sales
  • Proven track record of new account acquisition and market penetration in competitive corporate travel environments
  • Deep familiarity with the New York corporate travel landscape — including key corporate headquarter accounts, industry contacts, and TMC relationships
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM; experience with Cvent, Lanyon, or similar RFP and sales intelligence platforms
  • Strong understanding of the corporate RFP process and preferred hotel programs
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
