Team and Job Overview
SPORTFIVE is seeking a Director, Global Partnerships to drive partnership sales and business development efforts for Borussia Dortmund (BVB) across the US market. This role will be responsible for identifying and securing new brand partnerships while serving as a key advocate for BVB. Working closely with both US and German stakeholders, the successful candidate will help expand commercial opportunities, build strategic relationships with leading brands, and contribute to the continued growth of one of football's most recognized clubs.
This positions will report directly to VP Borussia Dortmund Global Partnerships with an adjacent, local report to the SVP – Commercial Sales, Americas
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Dedicated commercial sales for European Football Products and Clubs in the US, with a primary focus on Borussia Dortmund (BVB)
- Responsible for partnership sales and business development, with focus on US-based brands, for rights and assets which include but are not limited to, kit / sleeve sponsor ships, global partnerships or US/North America regional territory partnerships.
- Global Football subject matter expert and chief advocate for the sport and its ecosystem across the US SPORTFIVE business
- Proactive and consistent gathering of market intelligence across the Americas, to identify and pitch brands individually and in collaboration with the wider US SPORTFIVE sales team
- Professional management and conclusion of contract negotiations in cooperation with rights holder clients
- Regular reporting on business development to US and German management
- Continuous networking, through participation at industry business development and conference events in the US
- Diligent use of CRM (SALESFORCE) as well as data management and maintenance as critical tools to achieve goals and sales targets
- Responsible for fulfilling annual sales target for the US market
Minimum Qualifications & Competencies
- 5 - 8 years of sports partnership sales experience and expertise in B2B business development, including a solid track record of professional cooperation with key C-level decision-makers
- Fluent in written and spoken English, further foreign languages and intercultural experience are desirable
- Strong negotiation skills with proven and consistent sales success
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies
- Experience working in an agency, club/franchise or related media entity strongly desired
- Enthusiasm and passion for sports (especially European football)
Job Requirements
- This role is onsite in our NYC office a minimum of 4 days per week (subject to change)
- Some domestic and international travel (Europe / Germany to visit relevant clubs / e.g. Borussia Dortmund)
