Job Description & How to Apply Below

Big Deal Speakeasy Casino|New York City|Independent Contractor (1099)|$5,000/month retainer + uncapped commission|$130K+ expected first-year earnings

For 11 years, Big Deal has produced private "secret" casino events for Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Google, Blackstone, and hundreds of other New York firms. About 90% of our business is corporate. We book roughly $1 million a year, and we've done it without a dedicated salesperson: every inquiry and every repeat booking has been handled by the owner.

Your job is to go get the business that isn't calling us yet.

The Role

Your first 90 days are about building your own pipeline. You'll prospect law firms, banks, funds, tech companies, agencies, and hospitality groups, targeting the HR, events, and meeting-planning people who decide where the team goes for the holiday party, team-building offsites, the client night. You'll have plenty to sell with from day one: photos of every event style we run, our client list, five-star reviews, quotes from clients you've heard of, a proposal format that’s been closing deals for years, and eleven years of past-client records to prospect from.

One of your first jobs is to pick and set up the CRM; we don't have one yet, and we'd rather the person who lives in it choose it. We use Tripleseat for bookings.

From day 91, you also take over the book.

Once you've shown you can open doors, every incoming inquiry and every repeat client comes to you, on top of the new business you keep bringing in. Very few sales jobs at a company our size come with a $1 million book. This one does, once you've earned it.

Day to day, that means prospecting by phone, email, Linked In, and in person; meeting decision-makers; walking clients through the venue; writing proposals; closing the booking; getting the contract signed and the deposit in; and handing the event to our operations team. This is a hybrid role: remote prospecting, in-person meetings and walk-throughs in NYC.

Compensation
  • $5,000 per month guaranteed retainer for your first three months. This is a retainer, not a draw; you don't pay it back.
  • 23% of the profit on the first booking from every account you bring in. No cap.
  • Past clients you bring back after two or more years away pay 9% of the profit.
  • Once you take over the book: 9% of the profit on new incoming inquiries and 5% on repeat clients. When an account you opened books again, you earn 6% of the profit.
  • Commission 50% when their deposit clears, 50% after their event.
  • Profit means the event invoice, before sales tax, minus its direct costs: catering, bar, staffing, and card processing fees. You'll see every cost on every event and calculate your own commission.

What it adds up to: our average event is about $15,000, and about 65% of that is profit after the direct costs. The year-one target is $500,000 in new bookings, which is roughly 33 new accounts, or about three a month once your pipeline is running. That's about $325,000 in profit and earns $74,750 in commission. Add the $15,000 retainer and commission on the inbound book for the rest of the year, and year one comes to roughly $130,000.

Year two, with a full year of pipeline and the book from day one, is in the same range. Top performers will do considerably more; the 23% doesn't stop.

This is a 1099 contractor position. You handle your own taxes and insurance, use your own laptop and phone, and manage your own schedule. Commission terms are set out in a written agreement before you start.

Who We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of B2B or event sales with a track record of closing, not just servicing accounts
  • Experience selling to corporate and enterprise clients
  • Strong outbound skills: you can find the right person, get the meeting, and sell on value rather than price
  • Excellent…
