Are you a relationship-driven sales professional who would rather be in stores building business than sitting behind a desk? Our client, a well-established specialty food manufacturer with an internationally recognized consumer brand, is seeking a Territory & Channel Development Manager to drive retail growth throughout New York and New Jersey.
This is a highly visible field-based position responsible for expanding market presence, increasing product distribution, strengthening retailer relationships, and partnering with distributors to maximize sales performance across independent grocers, ethnic markets, specialty retailers, and regional grocery chains.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in field sales, territory management, retail operations, brand development, or route distribution within the food & beverage or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, with a proven track record specifically managing independent supermarket accounts and National Supermarket Association (NSA) member stores.
- Ideal candidate brings direct retail experience within the NSA network (e.g., a former NSA Store Manager, Assistant Manager, or Category Buyer transitioning into field sales), possessing a deep understanding of independent owner-operator mindsets and store-level operations.
- Demonstrated success growing retail accounts and increasing market share.
- Must possess established, existing relationships with independent grocery networks, NSA store owners, specialty food retailers, and ethnic grocery channels throughout the NY/NJ metropolitan area.
- Experience working with distributor networks and retail decision-makers.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and consultative selling skills.
- Experience developing merchandising strategies and executing in-store promotions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate sales data and market trends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience utilizing syndicated market data (Nielsen, Circana, etc.) is a plus.
- Adobe Creative Suite experience is beneficial but not required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred to effectively communicate with NSA store owners, operators, and staff.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel extensively throughout New York and New Jersey.
- Develop and execute territory growth strategies throughout New York and New Jersey.
- Identify and open new retail accounts while expanding existing customer relationships.
- Build long-term partnerships with independent grocery stores, ethnic markets, specialty retailers, and regional chain accounts.
- Collaborate with distributors and their sales teams to increase product distribution and market penetration.
- Support sales initiatives that drive revenue growth while maintaining strong brand positioning.
- Conduct frequent retail visits to ensure strong in-store execution.
- Secure premium shelf placement, eye-level positioning, and secondary displays.
- Monitor inventory levels, product freshness, pricing, and merchandising standards.
- Develop creative point-of-sale displays that increase visibility and product velocity.
- Ensure compliance with merchandising and brand standards across all assigned accounts.
- Execute regional marketing initiatives aligned with company objectives.
- Develop and implement localized trade marketing programs tailored to the NY/NJ marketplace.
- Coordinate seasonal promotions, consumer sampling events, food festivals, and retail activations.
- Represent the company at industry trade shows and community events.
- Educate retail partners and distributor sales teams on product features, applications, and brand heritage.
- Conduct competitive analysis within the specialty food and condiment categories.
- Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and retail opportunities.
- Track campaign effectiveness, territory performance, and sales results.
- Provide regular market feedback and recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with sales, marketing, and distributor teams to execute growth initiatives.

- Manage territory budgets and field marketing resources to maximize ROI.
