Cedar Insurance is seeking experienced business development and distribution professionals to grow our independent agent and broker network. The immediate focus is workers' compensation business in healthcare and senior living, with opportunities to expand into additional industries as Cedar grows.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Underwriting & Operations. Each Distribution Manager will be responsible for developing a defined geographic territory, activating existing broker relationships, generating quality submission flow, and working closely with underwriting to convert opportunities into profitable premium growth.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain relationships with brokers and agents.
- Generate workers’ compensation submissions and new business opportunities.
- Recruit new brokers that fit Cedar’s underwriting appetite. Manage opportunities from initial broker engagement through submission, quote, and binding.
- Manage opportunities from initial contact through submission, quote, and binding.
- Maintain regular broker communication through calls, visits, and industry events.
- Maintain an accurate pipeline and business development activity in the CRM.
- Track pipeline, submissions, bound premium, and broker activity in the CRM.
- Work closely with underwriting to improve opportunities and submission quality.
- 5+ years of experience in workers’ compensation, commercial P&C, business development and broker relations.
- Candidate should have established broker/agent relationships with the ability to generate quality business.
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation products and underwriting.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and CRM skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a territory.
Cedar is building a regional distribution team and expects to hire multiple Distribution Managers covering different areas of the country (Northeast, Southeast and Midwest). Territory will be based on Cedar's admitted states, business needs, and the candidate's existing broker relationships. Approximately 30% travel is expected for broker meetings, agency visits, and industry events.
