PositionPosition Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Engineer. The successful applicant will join a team working on projects focusing on low-field MRI development, collaborating with physicists, imaging experts, and radiologists in our multidisciplinary Center. The candidate will own a range of low-field MRI hardware projects including simulation, manufacture, and integration of B0 shim techniques, radio frequency coils, and ancillary devices such as preamplifiers.
The candidate will have the opportunity to pursue independent interests in accessible MRI and grow their own research team.
- Research Study Development and Planning.
- Assist in building software and hardware for research studies.
- Develop data collection tools and programs for analysis.
- Work with the team to design and execute experiments.
- Reporting and Analysis: research, compile and consolidate data; conduct preliminary analysis.
- Create reports to all necessary parties (PI, sponsoring agency, etc.) on modifications to the engineering design of programs.
- Formulates, prepares databases and generates preliminary measurement reports.
- Human Subjects' Research: ensure research-related computer programs and data collection tools comply with HIPAA and NYULH IRB policies; maintain confidentiality of electronic subject data.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Work as a functional member of the research team and department; attend staff meetings as requested.
- Handle duties as stipulated by Executive Leadership, including the Department Chairman or Department Administrator.
- Follow all applicable HIPAA compliance and safety guidelines; perform other duties as assigned.

- Experience with circuit board design and manufacture.
- Fluency in high-level software such as Matlab, CAD, and electromagnetic field simulators.
- Masters Degree or higher in engineering, physics, biomedical sciences, or related field.
- 3+ years experience with hands-on hardware development.
- Expertise in analog electronics.
- Experience with circuit board design and manufacture.
- Fluency in high-level software such as Matlab, CAD, and electromagnetic field simulators.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Siemens or other MRI platforms (preferred).

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $90,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
