PositionSummary
Senior Research Integrity & Compliance Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Research Integrity and Compliance, the Senior Specialist will independently conduct investigations, monitoring, and follow-up activities related to the conduct of research in compliance with federal and state regulations and policies at NYU Langone Hospitals and NYU Schools of Medicine. This includes assessment of activities related to research integrity, research misconduct, research security, data and biospecimen management, disclosures of outside activities, financial and administrative management of federal and non-federal grants and contracts, human subjects research, basic research, and new and emerging issues.
Responsibilities- Work with the Director of Research Compliance & Integrity, MCIT, Office of Science & Research (OSR), Office of Legal Counsel, and others to respond to reports of potential noncompliance by identifying relevant source material and managing the collection and organization of information.
- Conduct electronic investigations, data sequestration, and physical inspection in collaboration with appropriate operational partners.
- Create detailed work papers that support findings, document investigation steps, prepare investigation summaries, develop recommendations and alternative solutions, and discuss results with the business unit and senior management.
- Develop expertise in NYU Langone Health policies, as well as applicable federal, state, local compliance rules, laws, grant and contract terms, and sponsor policy.
- As a senior staff member, act as a role model and mentor, provide guidance to other staff, and assist the Director as requested.
- Respond promptly to requests, manage multiple projects, and provide excellent customer service.
- Bachelor's degree in science.
- Excellent analytical, communication (including presentation), advisory, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience with at least two years of compliance investigation experience in a hospital, academic medical center, major healthcare organization, research university, or not-for-profit entity.
- Master's degree, JD or PhD.
- Experience in conduct, publication, and funding applications for biomedical research.
- Experience with investigative and/or forensic techniques.
- Knowledge of federal Research Misconduct policies and procedures.
- Experience with e-discovery software.

Salary transparency and additional information:
The salary range for this role is 76,721.84 – 98,800.00 annually, with actual salaries depending on factors such as experience, education, and hospital need.
