Field / Lab Scientist – Technician 2 (193017) Responsibilities

• Assist in field work for environmental/biological projects, including water quality data collection, biological sampling of macroinvertebrates and fish, and other data collection from boats and on land.
• Set and retrieve scientific gear such as nets and instrumentation over boat sides, manholes, bulkheads, etc.
• Conduct terrestrial surveys such as wildlife identification, bird surveys, tree surveys, and wetland delineations, requiring long walks and traversal of uneven terrain.
• Collect field data, complete data sheets, logs, and chain‑of‑custody forms.
• Conduct site inspections for environmental compliance, work at hazardous waste sites, perform stormwater inspections, interpret and analyze data, plan surveys, and write environmental reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Small to medium boat operations, including trailering and launch/retrieval.
• Identification of waterfowl and other birds native to the northeast region.
• Local to the area (Nanuet, NY) is preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• General background‑related experience.
• Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of an employee‑owned culture.
