Role Description
Arcadis is seeking an entry‑level Biologist/Ecologist to join our Enviro Socio Permitting team in New York City. The role supports environmental desktop reviews, data collection efforts, regulatory permitting, construction management, compliance monitoring and adaptive management.
The candidate will work closely with a team of scientists, engineers and planners, supporting a wide range of clients throughout the region. Responsibilities include desktop assessments and field surveys, wetland delineations, preparation of technical reports, compliance monitoring, and regulatory reviews.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct desktop assessments and field surveys (e.g., habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys) to evaluate potential project impacts.
- Support wetland delineations and prepare technical reports such as species survey reports, wetland delineation reports, mitigation and monitoring plans, biological assessments, and permit applications.
- Conduct on‑site construction compliance monitoring to ensure special‑status species and habitat impact avoidance.
- Support regulatory reviews to minimize impacts to regulated habitats, develop alternative analyses, and complete impact assessments.
- Travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight travel.
- Bachelor’s degree in science (e.g., ecology, wetlands, soil science, water management). Preference for those with soil science coursework.
- One year of experience in the environmental field or an advanced degree in environmental science or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of east coast ecology, wetlands, habitats, special‑status plants and/or wildlife.
- Comfortable working in remote field locations.
- Proficient using hand‑held Trimble GPS.
The salary range for this position is $66,300 - $89,424 per year. Registered benefits include medical, dental, vision, EAP, 401(k), STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward and recognition program, wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. The role offers nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.
