Grant Coordinator/Editor - Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks a Grant Coordinator/Editor to support faculty in grant and publication activities. The role offers a collaborative environment, working across the full lifecycle of sponsored research and academic publishing to increase extramural funding and academic productivity.
Responsibilities- Provide end‑to‑end grant support for Principal Investigators, including preparation, coordination, and editorial assistance.
- Identify peer‑reviewed funding opportunities, match them with suitable applicants, and ensure timely proposal submission and follow‑up.
- Coordinate, edit, and submit federal, foundation, and internal MSK grant applications; manage grant progress reports.
- Assist with industry contract execution and coordination.
- Edit, format, and submit manuscripts, journal articles, abstracts, and related academic correspondence.
- Coordinate final review and submission of all sponsored research materials to ensure compliance with funding agencies and institutional guidelines.
- Collaborate with faculty and stakeholders to interpret funding requirements and support brainstorming and proposal development.
- Provide logistical and editorial support for research conference planning.
- Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred).
- 3–5 years of grant management experience, including NIH and/or Department of Defense (DoD) grants.
- Experience coordinating and submitting complex grant applications.
- Strong project management experience.
- Medical or scientific editing experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Strong collaboration and relationship‑building skills, with a customer‑service mindset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines simultaneously.
- Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills, particularly in situations without clear outcomes.
