Columbia’s Precision Medicine Initiative offers exciting avenues for applying advanced genomic science to the diagnosis and treatment of the most challenging diseases. As part of this initiative, the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM), under the direction of Dr. Ali Gharavi, comprehensively integrates genetics and genomics into research, training and patient care and develops programs that prepare students for careers as researchers and clinicians in the expanding field of genomic medicine.

We are currently accepting applications for a research-track scientist at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level in the field of genomic medicine. Faculty in this position will hold an appointment in Medicine and be a full member of the IGM with full participation in its academic activities, and full access to all of its core resources. Successful candidates will be team players who excel in highly interdisciplinary environments.

The successful candidate is expected to lead and contribute to ongoing clinical and translational genomic projects that advance precision medicine, understand human biology, identify the complex functional networks underlying health and disease, and develop novel diagnostics and therapeutics. This position is expected to provide experience in genomic characterization, genetic architecture, prediction/genomic interpretation and translational studies, while fostering an independent career in genomic medicine.

Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Pediatric genetics
  • Nephrology
  • Statistical genomics
  • Bioinformatics
