Genetics and Development Description
The laboratory of Dr. Gerard Karsenty in the Department of Genetics and Development at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a Staff Associate I to manage the husbandry of Dr. Karsenty's laboratory and genotype for all mutant mice. They will also handle administrative issues, order supplies, manage inventory, ensure that equipment or machinery is properly maintained, and communicate with facilities and other staff.
Responsibilities- Functional Knowledge: Proficient in maintaining multiple mouse lines.
- Problem Solving: Help and assist with interpreting PCR and gels.
- Decision Making/Autonomy: Daily responsibility includes cutting tails of mice, extracting DNA, performing PCR reactions, running agarose gels.
- Technical Expertise: Expertise in molecular biology.
- Communication: Communicate daily with experimentalists; serve as liaison between lab members, vendors, service providers, and CUIMC facilities staff; report to the Pl and laboratory team members as needed.
