Clean Harbors seeks an Environmental Field Chemist to support hazardous waste management and environmental services. In this role, you will perform on-site sampling, waste identification, and segregation at customer facilities, ensuring proper handling and regulatory compliance. You will prepare manifests, package materials, and coordinate with operations to safely transport and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes. Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling, profiling, and segregation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams at customer sites
- Conduct chemical testing and analysis to properly identify, classify, and label waste in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare and review manifests and shipping documentation to ensure accurate, compliant transport and disposal of waste
- Operate and oversee use of drums, totes, lab packs, and related equipment for safe handling, packaging, and loading of materials
- Collaborate with project managers, drivers, and field technicians to coordinate schedules, resources, and on-site activities
- Maintain strict adherence to Clean Harbors' safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental protection standards
- Communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to customers and internal teams, ensuring high-quality service
- Complete detailed field logs, inspection reports, and electronic records for audit-ready documentation
- Support emergency response or on-call assignments for spills and environmental incidents as needed
- Participate in ongoing training, certifications, and toolbox talks to enhance technical, safety, and regulatory knowledge
