The Role

Stratus recently partnered with PVEDI and is seeking an Environmental Scientist who will work under the direct supervision of senior staff. This position entails travel to and from job sites and working outside of the office setting to conduct site and subsurface characterization for environmental investigations and remediation, as well as office related tasks and associated reporting. This position would require working independently under the supervision of senior staff and technical advisors across diverse environmental projects, managing full-cycle site assessments, sample collection, data analysis, and detailed report preparation.

We’re seeking a proactive professional eager to build skills in client communication, budgeting, scheduling and task coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments and investigations related to Underground Storage Tank (UST), PADEP Act II Land Recycling Program, and Phase I and Phase II ESAs.
  • Monitor subsurface exploration activities (e.g., test borings, geoprobes, and test pits) to collect soil, bedrock, groundwater, and other pertinent information for project design.
  • Conduct soil, air and groundwater sampling in accordance with applicable ASTM standards, company standard procedures, and other industry standard guidelines.
  • Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for their discipline.
  • Compile, reduce, analyze, manage, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and/or environmental data using spreadsheets and other tools.
  • Use various environmental and geotechnical instrumentation and equipment during field work.
  • Perform historical site review and review applicable regulations, as appropriate.
  • Preparation of written reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs.
  • Coordinate, manage and oversee subcontractors during environmental field activities.
  • Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
  • Travel to local project sites, with occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications
:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or other related disciplines
  • 2+ years of professional services consulting experience that includes execution of UST investigation and regulatory compliance, PADEP Act II Land Recycling Program investigations, evaluation of environmental data, and presentation of technical solutions in a variety of written and oral formats.
  • Strong working knowledge of methodologies and procedures for due diligence, soil/groundwater investigations, remediation, and environmental compliance/permitting
